[Barry Faulkner album and scrapbook collection].

The collection consists of photographs of costumes and historical figures (mainly from the American Revolution) collected by Barry Faulkner to serve as studies and models for his murals in the National Archives. There are also albums containing photographs of his finished works, and personal photographs, and some small original sketches. The materials are in their original order as far as can be determined. It is apparent that the artist himself organized the albums and scrapbooks ; the order of these has been preserved. Series One consists of the four scrapbooks, Series Two contains the six albums, one of which (#3) is missing. The collection has not been processed at the item level apart from an inventory, compiled earlier by an employee of the Thorne, of the contents of each album and scrapbook. The collection as a whole is valuable in its documentation of the preparation process and accomplishments of this significant American artist, and for the original sketches it contains.

Black and white photographs, some pencil sketches, original album covers.10 boxes
